School Council
Our voice counts...
Every year we run an election campaign to vote for two new class representatives from Year 1 to Year 6. Children are voted in by their peers and class staff. All of our School Council representatives are great role models of our six Blaise values.
They meet regularly with our headteacher and Deputy Headteacher to discuss issues ranging from how to keep our school tidy to coming up with fun raising ideas. They remain on the school council for a year and report back to their class after each session. This year our school council will also take on the role of becoming ECO monitors across the school.

What is our School Council?
Our School Council represents the views of all our pupils. It gives children the opportunity to make their voices heard and feel part of the whole school community.
Sophie: “It means I can help make our school a fun place.”
Paige: “We can have a say.”
Stefan: “It is good to have time to talk and explain our ideas to the teachers.”
Hayden: “I like meeting up with other children from different classes.”
Maeve: “It is working together.”
Our School Council meets twice a term and then holds meetings back in our classrooms where we feedback or take ideas from our classes. These ideas are then shared with the school management team.
What have our School Council achieved to date?
We have:
- written a policy and charter for our meetings
- held talks with our classes and gathered views and ideas for school development.
- created a display area within school where information is displayed and children can leave ideas.
- met visitors to the school.
- have helped write a survey for children to answer to support with our updated behaviour policy.
- visited the school pond and fed-back ideas and comments to the Site Manager.
- discussed ways to improve playtimes in both KS1 and KS2 playgrounds.
- have helped our whole school focus on reading by suggesting ways to engage children at Blaise to read regularly at home.
- have led two assemblies to raise awareness of litter picking and looking after our school grounds.
- have gathered ideas and information to support with whole school events
Our leaders of the future:
Some people want it to happen,
Some wish it could happen,
Others make it happen. (Michael Jordon)
