History

‘The past was erased, the erasure was forgotten, the lie became the truth.’ George Orwell

A high-quality history education is fundamental to all learners.  It enables leaners gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of their own past, their country’s past and the origins of the context of the wider world in which we all live today. At Blaise, we aim to inspire curiosity to know more about the past. We bring this learning to life in the classroom and beyond, through active learning, trips, experiences, our environment, artefacts and links to the community and real life. Learners will learn to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments, and develop perspective and judgement as well as talk about, debate, record and write well. History enables us to understand the complexity of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups, as well as our own identity and the challenges of our lives.  Most importantly, it enables historians to gather the available evidence, to evaluate it and form a balanced and well-argued judgement.
