Art and Design
‘Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.’ Pablo Picasso
At Blaise, we aim to foster the artist in everyone. Art, craft and design embody some of the highest forms of human creativity. A high-quality art and design education engages, inspires and challenges learners; equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. We have designed our Art and DT curriculum to ensure that learners are taught a broad range of skills using a variety of different materials including clay, pastels, chalk, paints and charcoal. During their time at Blaise, learners are introduced to different mediums, including sculpture, print, collage, and fine art (which covers drawing and painting). Learners are inspired by the work of famous artists and designers and learn to think critically about their own work and that of others.
