1R

Welcome to 1R's page. Please check back here daily for new activities for you to complete.

Remember to read together every day, and to learn your weekly spellings and common exception words.

Try to do at least one hour of moving around every day, that could include dancing, running and getting outside.  You could try out some of the ideas here.

There are some Maths and English activity booklets on the home learning page.  Check out any of the other classes number and letter formation activities to practice your handwriting.  On there you can also find links to phonics and other great online learning.

Remember to stay safe online.  Don't leave your children to wander the internet unattended.  Lots of information about that here.

Here are some great ideas for home learning

If you would like to have lots morebooks to read, please click on this link https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/ to take you to the Oxford Owl Website. They have many free e-books that are banded into our school reading colour levels. Please feel free to email me at school@blaiseprimary.co.uk if you are not sure which colour your child should be reading.

It doesn't need to rhyme but these will be the magic words someone would need to say to make your medicine extra marvelous! You can get an adult to help you write your ideas down but make sure you have a go at writing some of it yourself too, or if you want to challenge yourself, write it all. I can't wait to see what you come up with.
Here's mine:
Stir it up and stir it well,
you'll need to mix it lots and lots.
See the blue bits swirling in,
hear the whizz of magic.
Fizzing, crackling, sparking,
blue and red and rainbow swirl.
Mix it, stir it, mix it well,
there's magic here,
that's for sure.

Other Activities

Miss Diffy has kindly set you some other activities to keep you moving and entertained throughout the day. Click on the links below.

Tuesday 24th March

The most important thing you can do today is look after the people around you.  Things are going to be different for a while.  You can help everyone by staying safe, washing your hands and following instructions.  It may help to watch Newsround with your grown ups.  They will be able to help you with any questions - and remember we don't always have the answers but we can think together about them.  You are great thinkers.

It is a real pleasure to see all your work on Purple MashCheck back when you can and feel free to explore the site and tell me what you like on there.  You can leave me a message when you save your work. There will always be things in your 2Dos.  Have some fun learning and exploring.  Don't forget to save your work so I can see it, and share with you about it. I check it every day, just like when we're in school.  So do keep looking to see what has changed on there.

Maths - at Blaise we use White Rose Maths scheme to base our planning and progress throughout the school.  White Rose is making short, daily home learning lessons you can enjoy working on together.  Today it's year 1 lesson 3, compare mass   Watch the video, do the worksheet and check the answers.  It's really simple to use and a great idea to consolidate what you are learning in school.  White Rose are also offering live support online between 10 - 11am every weekday where you can share children’s questions, examples and stories.  Parents you can access this on any of your social media channels - please don't leave the children on there by themselves.

PE - we have all enjoyed doing some PE with Joe in class.  Join in with children all around the world and enjoy! Click on the picture for the link

.

English - please keep writing your diary.  Its really exciting to see your online ones in Purple Mash.  Please read the first chapter of our new book, 'I wish I was a fish' which you will find in your 2Dos in Purple Mash.  You will find a quiz and a writing task for this book there too.  Along with related Art and DT work, and some Computing Coding.

Monday 23rd March

Look on Purple Mash I have left you work on there in your 2Dos.  Don't forget to save your work so I can see it, and share with you about it. I check it every day, just like when we're in school.  So do keep looking to see what has changed on there.

English - please keep writing a diary, with pictures - just like we did for the last couple of weeks as Snail in 'The Snail and The Whale' when she traveled around the world.   Add some more writing every day.  You could use the online one in your 2Dos in Purple Mash or write it with pencil and paper or in your own way.  Remember, when you do this you are being writers and historians - your words now will become a record of significant events within living memory.  I am looking forward to reading them.  I have put a writing mat at the bottom of this page, so you can use it every time you write.

Reading and DT - we had just started reading Rosie Revere, Engineer by Andrea Beatty, together.  I have made a pdf of the book for you to enjoy together at home.  Read it and see what inventions it sparks in your imagination.  Write and draw them, or even put them online in Purple Mash.

Phonics -

Theme - we have been learning about Brunel.  Go on a virtual trip to the SS Great Britain and continue your learning by becoming an engineer just like Brunel on the Full Steam ahead game.

Spread some Neighbourhood Cheer!

During the time when we are unable to meet up with our friends and all be together, we would like us all to take part in the national challenge to spread some neghbourhood joy!  This challenge initially starts with painting a picture of a rainbow and placing it in a window, so then when people are going for a walk they will be able to see your beautiful creations and smile at your work!!  We have been creating our rainbows in class today, to take home with us, so you can work with us too.

Writing Mat

In class today we shared this story about the Coronavirus. The children were able to share their worries and ask questions. We talked about ways we can keep ourselves healthy, how amazing our bodies are at fighting off infections and how we can talk to an adult if we start to feel worried.

This afternoon we will be learning some ways to keep ourselves calm and relaxed if we need to.
